Veteran actor Nana Patekar dies at 75 after cardiac arrest

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75 following a cardiac arrest today.

As per reports, the actor was discovered unresponsive at his house in Goa and was later taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

Patekar delivered some of the most powerful performances and also a memorable dialogue delivery in Bollywood and Marathi film industry.

He started his career with the 1978 film Gaman. In a career of more than four decades, he won three National Film Awards for Parinda, Agni Sakshi and Krantiveer, and also accomplished the rare feat of winning Filmfare awards in the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Villain categories.

Among his popular movies are Prahaar (which he directed), Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome, Raajneeti and Natsamrat. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution in cinema.

His magnetic screen presence, high voltage acting and powerful dialogues continue to haunt Indian films. The sudden death of the actor has taken the world by shock and grief.
