BMC official assault: BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan sent to 14-day judicial custody

Bhubaneswar: The SDJM court in Bhubaneswar today rejected the bail petition of senior BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan and sent him to 14-day judicial custody at Jharpada Jail.

The Commissionerate Police produced Pradhan before the court after arresting him when he surrendered himself at the Bhubaneswar DCP office in connection with the brutal attack on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo on Monday.

According to Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, the BJP leader was arrested, taken for medical examination and subsequently forwarded to the court after he surrendered himself.

With Jagannath Pradhan’s arrest, the number of arrested persons in the tragic incident has risen to six. Earlier, Sanjeev Mishra, Sachikant Swain, Jeevan Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra and Debashis Pradhan were arrested for thrashing, kicking, abusing and attempting to abduct the BMC Additional Commissioner.
