New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken the record for being the longest-serving elected prime minister of India, surpassing the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Modi has served for over four years, 399 days at the helm of affairs, surpassing Nehru’s continuous elected prime ministerial tenure of 16 years and 286 days.
The feat makes him another record-breaking personality in Indian political history as he enters his third term.
The prime minister’s long service is expected to be duly acknowledged at the upcoming National Democratic Alliance (NDA) conclave, scheduled at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The gathering will witness leaders of 22 NDA-ruled states and Union Territories discuss governance priorities, development projects, and the alliance’s future roadmap.
A few other senior leaders who are expected at the event are Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from the NDA states.
Political analysts state that this is indicative of his consistent electoral success from May 2014, and his government has introduced major programs in areas of infrastructure, digital governance, and foreign affairs, whilst also being able to tackle issues ranging from the pandemic to the global economic crisis.
While discussions for governance and plans are expected to be the focal points at the NDA conclave, Modi’s tenure is expected to be a talking point for the leaders and the event.
