Apple officially kicked off its annual developers conference WWDC 2026 on Monday with a key note that brought major software announcements. It announces brand new iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and new Apple Intelligence architecturepowered by Google’s Gemini models.
The keynote also announces the new Siri AI, a voice assistant previously launched during WWDC 2024. Last February, the company collaborated with Google to incorporate Gemini into the assistant and the new native models, which are now officially introduced as the new AI architecture that will power next-gen intelligent services.
The new Apple Intelligence architecture, explained through the use of concentric circles, is powered by foundational models that sit at the core and deliver the new AI services to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro devices.

Built in partnership with Google, Apple’s foundation models boast multimodal features, which means users will be able to query through voice, text and images. Users will be able to generate, edit, and perform various other tasks with just a simple voice prompt, and receive smart, context-aware assistance with Apple Intelligence.
The new models have the ability to recall personal context and are able to understand the context on the users’ current screen and take appropriate action as deemed fit. Apple’s foundation models are now trained with information accessible through public domain and this will allow Siri to provide more insightful answers and help users find anything based on this data.
Another new system orchestrator, that helps Apple’s AI features, security measures and native apps work together to deliver context-aware assistance and better results. The system orchestrator is aimed at ensuring better collaboration between Siri and its native apps and is programmed to respond to the specific context of the current task performed by the user.
