New Delhi: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has received a fresh death threat, triggering a security scare in the capital.

According to reports, an unsigned communication was sent to him via post on Tuesday, warning that the Union Minister would “be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists”.

The matter was brought to the notice of the Union Home Secretary in a letter by Alok Kumar, Additional Private Secretary to the Union Minister.

The letter stated that Paswan is currently under Z-category security cover provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the threat is a matter of grave concern regarding his personal security.

“I am directed to bring to your urgent attention a matter of grave concern regarding the personal security of the Hon’ble Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, who is currently under Z-category security cover,” the letter stated.

This is not the first time Paswan has been threatened. In July this year, he had received a death threat on Instagram from a user named ‘Tiger Meraj Idrisi’ who threatened to blow him up with a bomb. Patna Cyber Police had registered a case and arrested one person in that matter.

Police and central agencies have been informed and a probe is underway.
