Six MPs trigger fresh crisis for Shiv Sena

Mumbai: Maharashtra politics saw a series of unprecedented events after a chunk of Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs moved closer to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, bringing about a new political challenge to Uddhav Thackeray.
Sources suggest as many as six MPs have forged a separate faction in the Lok Sabha, with the group seeking official recognition.
The fresh developments emerge on the heels of an alleged ‘Operation Tiger’ in the state.
According to insiders, the disgruntled MPs are unhappy with the current course and leadership of the party.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders held several emergency meetings, asking its legislators to stand together, but merely a handful of members attended an important parliamentary meeting.

In a turn of events, the renegade MPs pointed out that the party has lost its core ideology, while the other camp blamed opponents for attempts at poaching politicians.
Now the political war will be on the floors of Parliament and constitutional offices, which will be called upon to identify the split group.
The latest split comes merely four years after the big blow that came when Eknath Shinde rebelled from the united Shiv Sena in 2022.
Political experts believe that the recent development is likely to dilute Uddhav Thackeray’s stand in the run-up to subsequent elections in Maharashtra.
