Tamil Actor Karthik Sabesh dies at 37, days after uncle and music composer Deva’s death

Chennai: Tamil actor Karthik Sabesh aged 37 breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on yesterday night. Within a matter of two days, the family and Tamil cinema have mourned two of their big names.
His death comes just two days after the death of his uncle, senior music director Deva, who died on October 17, aged 75.
Karthik was reportedly ill for a while and was being treated at a private hospital in Chennai.
According to sources, he had been hospitalised for about two months and was under treatment including dialysis.

He is believed to have been unwell for a number of weeks prior to his death. But the family has not released any further details about his illness.
Karthik was the son of music composer Sabesh, a member of the famed Sabesh-Murali composer duo, and the nephew of Deva (also known as Thenisai Thendral). He acted in a few Tamil films such as Dreams, Vallavan, Kulir 100°, Kaadhal Solla Vandhen, Udhayam NH4, Pattathu Yaanai and Burma. Karthik has done supporting roles in Tamil films during the course of his career.
Karthik is survived by his wife Ramya Karthik, their two daughters and his elder sisters. The actor’s last rites were scheduled to be conducted today at the Valasaravakkam burial ground in Chennai.
The family had also lost Karthik’s father, music director Sabesh, in October 2025, which too came close to the death of Deva after that of Karthik.
