UP man performs surgery on woman, arrested after she dies

Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a woman died after a 24-year-old BSc Nursing student conducted an operation on her without a doctor. The incident was reported from Indra Hospital located in Mahraiya village.
According to the police, the deceased identified as Suman, was admitted to the hospital on August 18 for a uterus surgery, but no doctor was available when she was supposed to be operated on the next day.
The hospital’s manager, Indrajeet Prajapati, allegedly conducted the procedure. Following which, Suman developed complications post-surgery and died the same night.
Chief Medical Officer’s inquiry is said to have revealed that a blood vessel had been severed in the procedure and that she sustained damage to her kidney.

Police said that Prajapati was a BSc Nursing student and was not qualified to practice as a doctor as he did not have any degree or diploma. The hospital was also without a doctor or paramedical staff.
In line with Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, a case has been registered against Prajapati, and he has been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the health department has revoked the hospital’s registration and has advised sealing it.
