Brydon Carse handcuffed after nightclub incident; ECB investigates

New Delhi: England fast bowler Brydon Carse is being investigated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following an incident at a nightclub in Derby on Saturday night.

Footage posted on social media appears to show the paceman in handcuffs outside the club being led away by police.

Carse was in Derby having played in the County Championship match between Durham and Derbyshire, which was won by the county by 338 runs.

After the game, team-mates apparently went out to celebrate, with Stokes and fellow England paceman Matthew Potts visible in the same clip.

Carse was reportedly detained for a short period and released without charge; the cause of the police presence has not been made clear.

The ECB confirmed it was aware of the incident. “We have been alerted to an incident in Derby and are currently investigating,” an ECB spokesperson said. “We will make a further statement when more details are known.”

Carse has remained in the England squad for the second test against Pakistan at Lord’s but it is not clear if his involvement will be affected by the police altercation.

It follows similar controversy with England cricketers and the nightclubs on a number of other occasions recently.
