Baramati: The body of the teenage daughter of the personal assistant to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) MLA Rohit Pawar was found near her residence in a village in Baramati in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday morning, authorities said.

Pawar said that the daughter of his assistant, Ajit Dashavatare, had been missing since the previous evening. The family filed a missing person report with the police, and after an extensive search conducted by family members, acquaintances, and police personnel, her body was located near her building premises.

“Look, today in the morning around 8:30 am, my private assistant Ajit – his daughter, who was very young, about 15 years old – her dead body was found around 8:30 am near their building premises. She had been missing since last night, and a complaint regarding this was also lodged with the police department last night. Following that, Ajit’s friends, family, acquaintances, and to some extent, officials from the police department made efforts to search for the girl,” the (NCP-SP) MLA said.

Pawar said that friends and family of Ajit’s family have gathered at the Baramati Government Medical College where the postmortem was being conducted.

Addressing mediapersons, Pawar said that the postmortem procedure is underway. He further noted that he held a detailed meeting with police authorities and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) to request a thorough investigation.

“The postmortem process has commenced, as informed by the officials here after we spoke to them. Along with that, I spoke with the police department for about half an hour to an hour. Whatever doubts or thoughts people have in their minds, or if anyone suspects any possibilities of what might have occurred – we arranged a meeting for those people with the Deputy Superintendent of Police,” he said.

Pawar further emphasised that local authorities must maintain strict quality standards in their probe, cautioning that any substandard investigation would be met with serious accountability.

“We appealed to them that there should be no politics involved here. A young girl has passed away, a family is seeking justice, and we need to find out what actually happened – whether someone is responsible or if there is another cause. A proper probe must be conducted,” he said.

CCTV footage of the area is being reviewed to unveil further details in the case, he said.
