U19 World Cup: India beats West Indies by 9 wickets
by Sunita · KalingaTVThe Indian Women cricket team has began their title journey with a 9 wicket win over West Indies in the U19 World Cup at the Bayuemas Oval on Sunday. The commanding nine-wicket was led by Parunika Sisodia, Joshitha VJ, and Aayushi Shukla who picked seven wickets together.
India opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Pacer Joshitha, named Player of the Match, dented West Indies early by taking 2-5 in two overs, before Parunika (3-7) and Aayushi (2-6) shone to bowl them out for just 44 in 13.2 overs.
Meanwhile, India succeeded in to chase down the total in only 4.2 overs with nine wickets in hand with Sanika Chalke and wicketkeeper G Kamalini still standing at 18 and 16 respectively.
Joshitha took the wickets of West Indies skipper Samara Ramnath, and Naijanni Cumberbatch. Meanwhile, Parunika and Aayushi took a wicket each. Other three run-outs were credited due to the good fielding of the fielders. After that, Aayushi got another wicket while Parunika bagged two more to finish with a three-wicket haul.
Sanika played well with three boundaries hit and Kamalini also hit three fours, including the winning shot going over the keeper’s head to get a dominant win for India.
India will face hosts’ Malaysia on Tuesday.
