FIR lodged against Jaat actors and director over church scene, movie makers accused of hurting religious sentiments

A FIR has been filed against recently released film, Jaat actors and director for hurting religious sentiments. The complaint was lodged with the Jalandhar Police, claiming that a scene in the film has offended the Christian Community.

FIR has been lodged against actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, director Gopichand Malineni, and the film’s producers under section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Christian community has objected the film demanding a ban on the screening of the film in theatres. The community expressed disappointment with a church scene. In the scene, Randeep Hooda is seen standing inside a church, beneath a crucifix. The members of the congregation are seen praying. The scene has hurt the sentiments of Christian community, who allegedly accused the movie makers for hooliganism and intimidation inside the church.

The representatives from the community have also submitted a memorandum to the joint Commissioner demanding a ban on the screening of the film in theatres.

Jaat is an action thriller film written and directed by Gopichand Malineni , produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film stars Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, alongside Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, P.Ravi Shankar and Babloo Prithviraj.
