New Delhi: Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was taken to hospital after collapsing during a training session involving Bayern’s reserve team on Friday.
The 40-year-old, a Belgian, has been immediately hospitalized and is being subjected to detailed medical check-ups, the German champions said.
He will be monitored by the club’s medical staff and his coaching staff, currently away on football training, will take care of footballing matters.
Emergency helicopter reportedly arrived at their training base in Munich after accident, according to report.
Kompany was then transported to hospital by ambulance. The club has not confirmed a final diagnosis but described his condition as stable.

This happened just after Kompany had been battling a viral infection over the last few days, preventing him from training and attending a pre-match press conference.
And even though he was diagnosed with the disease, he was back in the touchline this week as Bayern drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. He had also admitted in the immediate aftermath of the game that he had to “listen to my body” and let himself recover.
Bayern sports director Max Eberl said the health of the coach was the club’s primary concern and that he will be given all the required medical treatment and time to recover.
Kompany remains unavailable for Sunday’s game against Freiburg in the Bundesliga as he is still in medical testing.
