Private buses in Odisha to resume services from today

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association will start rolling their buses from today. The bus services in Odisha will resume after a pause of four days.
On Friday, the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha had a meeting and decided to resume the bus services.
Despite the strike of the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha, private buses will run in all routes of the State from tomorrow, announced the All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association today.
Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association president, Loknath Pani informed that a meeting of the Association was held in Puri today to take a concrete decision regarding resuming the bus services.
As they have already incurred huge loss due to the ongoing strike of the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha and general public have been badly affected for not getting any bus to travel, the bus owners’ association decided to resume the bus services in all the routes as per their schedule, said Pani.
However, we urge the state government to provide security as the protest of the drivers is still underway, he added.
It is to be noted here that the cease work agitation of the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha has entered its fourth day today. They are on an indefinite strike to press for the fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands.
The strike had begun since July 8 and for four days the transportation had been badly affected. As the travellers and passengers were facing lots of difficulties the Odisha Bus Owners’ Association has urged to resume bus services in all the routes.
On the other hand, the Samabalpur Drivers’ Association President questioned, “Strikes by drivers are ongoing in almost all the districts, then who will drive the buses?” After this announcement by the Odisha Bus Owners’ Association to run the buses again, the response of Odisha Drivers’ Association Prashant Menduli is awaited.
