India News | Delhi: Civil Servant's Daughter Murdered in Amar Colony; Accused Held from Dwarka

New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Wednesday said that it has apprehended an accused in connection with the murder of the daughter of a senior civil servant, and invoked the charges of rape.

Vijay Kumar, Joint CP Southern Range, Delhi Police, told the media, "We successfully apprehended him from a hotel in the Dwarka area, and further interrogation is currently underway".

"After the incident, he changed his trousers and shoes. Regarding the motive behind this incident, he committed a similar crime yesterday in Alwar. When our team reached Rajgarh, Alwar, to apprehend him, we found that he had perpetrated a similar offence there late yesterday evening. He may have such a mindset; this will be further confirmed during the ongoing interrogation. A rape case was registered against him in Alwar yesterday."

The accused has been identified as Rahul Meena, a former domestic help.

"In this instance, we have invoked sections pertaining to rape and murder, as well as robbery."

"Based on preliminary information, suspicion centred on a former domestic help named Rahul Meena, whom the family had dismissed about 1.5 month for some reasons," he added.

The police official said that they received information that an incident had occurred in Amar Colony around 8:45 on Wednesday morning.

Following the incident, the Delhi police had formed several teams to nab the accused.

"Subsequently, we obtained CCTV footage and gathered information from several eyewitnesses confirming that he had indeed entered the house that morning. He arrived in the colony around 6:30 AM, entered the house around 6:39 AM, and exited around 7:20 AM. It was during this interval that he committed the crime.. ," he added. (ANI)
