Ocarina of Time is getting a ground-up remake on Switch 2

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of those watershed moments in gaming that needs no introduction. As the first 3D Legend of Zelda title and one of the first big (kind of) open-ended games, it set the formula that the rest of the Zelda series and countless imitators would follow for decades, at least until that formula was reinvented.

It needs no introduction, but Nintendo is evidently okay with a re-introduction. The biggest moment from today's Nintendo Direct was, without a doubt, the reveal of a ground-up remake of Ocarina of Time, to be released exclusively on Switch 2 later this year. For a project supposedly so close to release, you'd think they'd show off some actual gameplay.

All the teaser gives us is a single shot of Link (in a new outfit, no less!) that looks just a little like all those "I Rebuilt Ocarina of Time In Unreal Engine 5" fan videos. With the recently announced Star Fox 64 remake also on the horizon, it seems it's a good time to be an iconic Nintendo 64 game.
