Trump warns Iran against use of force on protesters

New Delhi, Jan 2: US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, saying the United States would intervene if Iranian authorities resort to violence against peaceful protesters.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump alleged that the killing of protesters was a pattern of behaviour by Tehran and said Washington was prepared to act.

“If Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go,” Trump wrote.

The remarks come amid renewed tensions over Iran’s handling of internal dissent, though there was no immediate response from Iranian officials to Trump’s statement.
