Media coverage of PDP's resolution on Article 370 was contempt of this house: BJP MLA - Greater Kashmir
by GK Web Desk · Greater KashmirSrinagar, Nov 05: The second day of the J-K Legislative Assembly session saw ruckus after BJP MLA, R.S. Pathania raised a point of order questioning the legitimacy of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) resolution on the restoration of Article 370.
Pathania, according to news gathering agency KDC claimed that the resolution brought by PDP members Waheed Ur Rehman Para, Fayaz Mir, and Mohd Rafiq, had not yet been formally submitted to the Assembly, yet it had already been quoted verbatim in the media.
“Is it not contempt of this house,” Pathania asked the speaker, that media reports carried the full text of the resolution before it had officially been presented for discussion in the assembly.
On Monday, the resolution, which calls for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370, stirred controversy when PDP members submitted it to the Speaker for consideration. BJP members immediately staged protests, demanding that the resolution be disallowed and the remarks be expunged.
However, the Speaker informed that he was not handed over the whole proposal neither he had read it.
