Waqf (Amendment) Bill will improve condition of Muslims, says Darakhshan Andrabi
by GK Web Desk · Greater KashmirSrinagar, Apr 02: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today praised Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025, saying it will improve condition of Muslims in the country.
She expressed support for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025, stating that she does not anticipate any negative outcomes from its implementations.
“Once the bill is passed it is hoped it will contribute positively in the betterment of Waqf institutions and Muslims of the country,” Dr Darkhshan Andrbi told reporters.
She said Waqf has enough properties including land across the country after Defense and Railways, which needs to be utilized for the betterment and development of Muslims across the country. She also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken this initiative and it is hoped it will bring revolution in the living of Muslims in the country.
Earlier Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju tabled the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, as proposed by a Joint Parliamentary Committee, in the Lok Sabha for consideration and passage.
The bill seeks to improve the administration of Waqf properties, introduce technology-driven management, address complexities and ensure transparency.
Introducing the bill, Rijiju said the consultation process of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was the largest ever exercise carried out by a parliamentary panel in India’s democratic history.
He said over 97.27 lakh petitions, memorandums were received by the JPC through physical and online formats and the JPC had gone through each of them before finalising its report.
