New Delhi, Jul 16: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, following the Pahalgam terror attack that India has attributed to Pakistan-sponsored groups.

Chugh suggested that as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s comments were inappropriate and could undermine India’s diplomatic messaging. He also referred to past instances where Gandhi reportedly held undisclosed meetings with Chinese officials, urging the Congress party to avoid politicising matters of national interest.

Chugh said that the government’s international outreach, including the Prime Minister’s statements and the Foreign Minister’s meetings, were aimed at conveying India’s concerns about terrorism on global platforms. He added that efforts to raise the Pahalgam incident internationally were part of a broader diplomatic strategy, and all political parties should support such initiatives.
