New Delhi, Jan 19: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has criticised Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on the UK and other countries opposing his plan to take over Greenland, calling it “completely wrong,” the BBC reported.

Starmer said Greenland’s future “belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone,” while warning that a trade war would hurt businesses, workers and families, even as he ruled out immediate retaliation.

Describing the situation as “very serious,” Starmer stressed the need to uphold principles while maintaining a strong relationship with the United States and welcomed cross-party support at home as the UK responds to the proposed US tariffs.
