Three OGWs detained under PSA in Shopian, shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jammu: Police

Srinagar, Dec 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian have detained three alleged Over Ground Workers (OGWs) under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA) as part of sustained efforts to maintain peace and security in the district.

The detenues have been identified as Owais Ahmad Lone of Sedow, Mashooq Ahmad Shah of Shahlatoo and Subzar Ahmad Gani of Check Choland, all residents of Shopian.

According to police, the individuals were repeatedly found involved in activities prejudicial to the security of the State. Despite preventive actions and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170/126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), they allegedly continued to indulge in unlawful activities, posing a serious threat to peace and public order.

Following the completion of all legal formalities, detention orders were obtained from the District Magistrate, Shopian. The three were subsequently taken into custody and shifted to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu.
