Massive fire engulfs 8 to 9 houses in Dachhan's Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Jan 01: A massive fire incident was reported on Thursday from Thachna village in the Dachhan area of Kishtwar district, in which around eight to nine residential houses were engulfed in flames.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC) that the fire broke out under unknown circumstances and spread rapidly, causing extensive damage to residential structures.

He said that local residents, along with police personnel, are making strenuous efforts to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses. However, the firefighting and rescue operations are being severely hampered due to the non-availability of adequate water resources in the area.

The official added that efforts are on to mobilise additional resources to bring the fire under control. Further details about the cause of the fire and the extent of losses were awaited at the time of filing this report.
