This Morning's Alison Hammond issues candid body admission as she says 'it used to kill me'
by Danny Gutmann · BristolLiveAlison Hammond, the host of Celebrity Great British Bake Off, has made a candid body admission, admitting "that just used to kill me".
During a chat with Richard Armitage on recent episode of her Smart TV podcast, they both expressed their mutual appreciation for the renowned sketch show, French and Saunders.
Alison confessed that she was always particularly "excited" to see Dawn French's performances, especially her famous celebrity impersonations alongside Jennifer Saunders.
She said: "I always used to get excited about Dawn. Who was Dawn going to be? What was Dawn going to be wearing? I think because I had a similar body type to what she had, I think that just used to kill me, every single time she used to be anything."
She further reminisced: "Do you remember when she was the Spice Girls? I think she was Posh Spice, I think she was so funny, and she looked just like her, it was just the best."
French and Saunders, which ran impressively from 1987 to 2007, saw its popularity soar over the years. The long-standing BBC show offered viewers an array of comedic sketches, as the duo satirically portrayed contemporary culture.
Their immense success led to them being honoured with the esteemed BAFTA fellowship in 2009. The award, which first began being handed out back in 1971 is reserved for the very best actors and directors in the world of television and cinema.
Alison's career has been a resounding success, with her participation in numerous popular TV shows such as Big Brother, Celebrity MasterChef and Strictly Come Dancing. However, she is perhaps most recognised for her various presenting roles over the years.
She first joined This Morning as a reporter in 2002 before stepping into the presenter's role in 2020, sharing the spotlight with Dermot O'Leary as one of the show's main hosts.
More recently, baking enthusiasts welcomed the 50-year-old back to their screens with the latest series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off, which premiered last weekend on March 16.
The next episode is scheduled to air on Channel 4 next Sunday (March 23) at 7.40 pm.
