Strong Q2 Performance

The first quarter of FY27 has also started on a positive note for Honda Cars India. During the April-June 2026 period, domestic sales reached 14,423 units, up 20.9% compared to 11,928 units in the corresponding quarter last year. As a result, Honda’s combined domestic and export sales for Q2 stood at 21,579 units, reflecting a healthy 35% year-on-year growth.

New City And ZR-V Generate Momentum

Honda attributed the improved performance to the recent launch of the updated City sedan and the India premiere of the all-new ZR-V SUV. According to Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India, both products have generated strong showroom momentum, which has also benefited existing models such as Amaze and Elevate.

He added that improving monsoon conditions are expected to support market demand in the coming months. Honda also expects the upcoming commencement of ZR-V deliveries in July to attract a new set of premium customers and strengthen the brand’s presence in the SUV segment.

Honda Preparing Biggest India Product Offensive Yet

Looking ahead, Honda is preparing one of its biggest product offensives for the Indian market. The company has already begun testing its upcoming 0 Alpha electric SUV, recently spotted on test in Manali. It is planned for launch in India in 2027.

Beyond its first dedicated EV, Honda has also confirmed plans to develop two new SUVs specifically for India. These include a new sub-4 metre SUV to rival the likes of Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue, along with a new mid-size SUV that will take on Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc. Both models are expected to arrive from 2028 onwards.

Honda’s long-term roadmap is even more ambitious. The company has announced plans to introduce 10 new cars in India by 2030, spanning ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. With fresh products across multiple segments, Honda will be aiming to significantly strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing passenger vehicle markets.
