New Kia Sorento has started arriving at dealer showrooms in India ahead of its official launch event scheduled for today, September 4. The premium three-row SUV will mark Kia’s entry into a higher segment and will be offered with both diesel and strong-hybrid powertrain options.

Kia Sorento measures 4,815 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. It will be available in 6- and 7-seat configurations depending on the variant. Kia is planning three primary trims – HTE, HTK and HTX – with HTX getting AWD as standard. Additional convenience, ADAS and exterior styling packages will also be offered.

Diesel And Hybrid Powertrains

Sorento will get a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 193 PS and 442 Nm. The second option is a 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain, with the petrol engine rated at 180 PS and the electric motor at 65 PS. Max 265 Nm of torque for the hybrid.

Equipment levels will vary significantly across the three trims. Base entry-level HTE gets a 12.3-inch screen with a 4-inch cluster, 10-way powered driver’s seat, 18-inch alloy wheels, eight parking sensors, rear-view monitor and seven airbags. A Convenience Pack adds panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, front ventilated seats and an 8-way powered passenger seat.

HTK adds twin 12.3-inch displays, 12-speaker Bose audio, 19-inch alloys, 12 parking sensors, surround-view and blind-view monitors, Kia Connect 2.0 with OTA updates, front ventilated seats, four-cube projector headlamps, panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting. An optional ADAS package brings a 21-feature suite.

Top-spec HTX takes the equipment list further with front relaxation seats, Ergo Motion driver’s seat, Digital Key 2.0, Gen AI assistant, second-row ventilation, head-up display, digital IRVM, remote smart parking assist and front and rear dashcams. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags and a 30-feature ADAS suite. AWD with terrain modes is standard on this trim.

Other notable features include a smart powered tailgate, shift-by-wire rotary selector, navigation-based cruise control, 220V inverter, ISOFIX mounts for the second and third rows, remote second-row seat folding and up to 12 parking sensors.

With dealer dispatches already underway, pricing and complete variant will soon be announced at today’s launch event. Sorento will sit above Kia’s existing mass-market SUV and MPV range in India.
