All-new 5th-gen Hyundai Tucson has a sharper, boxier profile and gets an upgraded tech package including Pleos infotainment interface

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the new Tucson, revealing a striking design based on the brand’s latest ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy. This new version will go on sale globally as a 2027 model. In the latest development, the new Tucson has been spotted on the road for the first time. Thanks to Healer TV channel we now have a better idea of all the changes introduced with the 5th-gen model.

New Hyundai Tucson – Finer details revealed

Overall design of the new Tucson carries a futuristic vibe, featuring sharp lines and 3D-style elements. Lighting setup is entirely new with H-style LED DRLs and lower mounted headlamps. The front fascia is entirely upright, something that is true for the rear profile as well. All panels and housings have clear geometrical shapes, resulting in an elegant, clutter free aesthetic.

Other highlights include a closed-off grille that also integrates a small lower grille section with active air flaps. This lower grille section is interconnected to the headlamps at both ends via a blacked-out trim. The front bumper utilizes a mix of ruggedness and contemporary design, all while adhering to the broader clean-look philosophy.

New Tucson’s front black trim connects to the squared-off wheel arches. It continues across the door panels, rear wheel arches and eventually moves to the rear, forming the lower section of the boot lid. This design approach gives a sense of continuity and helps create more impactful visuals. New Tucson has body coloured conventional door handles, blacked-out pillars and a gently sloped roofline. Large sporty alloy wheels help enhance the SUV’s presence.

At the rear, the lighting setup follows the same H-style format used at the front. Other highlights include a shark fin antenna, prominent roof mounted spoiler, a raked windshield, a silver trim accompanying the black trim and a relatively sober rear bumper design. Several of the styling elements seen with the new Tucson appear familiar to that of the new Santa Fe. Upcoming new-gen Hyundai Creta is also expected to follow a similar design approach.

Bigger size, new features

New Hyundai Tucson is larger than its predecessor and expected to offer a roomier interior. Dimensions are 4,700 mm (L) x 1,905 mm (W) x 1,685 mm (H) and 2,785 mm (Wheelbase). This makes the new Tucson 60 mm longer and 40 mm wider. Wheelbase has also increased by 30 mm. Rear doors now open 10 degrees more and 2nd row headroom has improved by 29 mm.

Cockpit area has received a full refresh, featuring the advanced Pleos infotainment interface. A single large portrait-oriented central touchscreen integrates various functions of the infotainment and digital instrument cluster. A slim dashboard-mounted screen has been provided for accessing critical information, directly in view of the driver’s line of sight. Another key highlight is the new two-spoke squared steering wheel.

Hyundai is yet to reveal the powertrain options for the new-gen Tucson. It is possible that an updated version of Hyundai’s 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain could be introduced. New Tucson is expected to continue with petrol and PHEV versions, depending on the market. India launch is expected in 2027.
