New Jetour T2 Facelift Launched In China – JSW Combat India Debut Delayed

JSW Motors’ first SUV for India, the Jetour T2 could be offered in the price range of Rs 30 lakh

Chery Jetour T2 facelift has been launched in China with a range of updates for both ICE and PHEV versions. The updated model will be sold as the Traveller 7 in China. While the facelift has been launched, the existing ‘Traveller’ model will continue to be sold alongside.

Jetour T2 facelift – What’s new?

As compared to the rugged aesthetic of the current model, the Jetour T2 facelift follows a more refined design approach. Updates include new circular headlights, which replace square units seen on the current model. The large JETOUR badging seen on the grille has been toned down and moved to the bonnet. The grille now features a full-width LED strip, connecting the headlamps.

Also noticeable is a more seamless front bumper replacing the rugged, protruding unit used with the current model. The finish has also changed from black to body-coloured. A larger air intake can be seen, while features like off-road lights and tow hooks have been removed. Side profile remains largely the same as earlier. There are only a few exceptions such as body coloured wheel arches.

At the rear, Jetour T2 facelift continues with the 3D-style four-point taillights. Updates include a new rear spoiler, a refreshed bumper and a smoother D-pillar trim. The rear utility storage box, boot door handle and the rear bumper are now body coloured.

Interior updates

Inside, the Jetour T2 facelift focuses on achieving a cleaner, sophisticated profile. The refreshed dashboard now has dual vertically stacked air vents on either side. These have a chrome finish for a premium feel. The centre console has also been updated with neatly positioned physical controls. These include AC controls and a rotary selector for the seven drive modes.

Users can also access the X-Mode button for the XWD all-wheel drive system. The centre console also has dual smartphone holders with a Qi wireless charger. Features like a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display have been carried over. However, the infotainment system is now powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 chip with 24 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It also integrates iFlytek’s Spark generative AI voice control.

Other key updates include 256-colour ambient lighting and a 23-speaker surround sound system. Jetour T2 facelift is equipped with new ten-way power-adjustable comfort seats. These have a 12-layer construction and integrate an eight-point massage function. The steering wheel is also new, borrowed from the larger Jetour G700.

Safety kit for Jetour T2 facelift includes highly-autonomous city and highway driving functions. Petrol variants utilize Falcon 500 autonomous tech, which has been developed inhouse by Chery. In comparison, the PHEV version uses Huawei’s Qiankun ADS5 system.

Powertrain options, range

Base variant of Jetour T2 facelift continues with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol, four-cylinder engine. It generates 184 PS and 290 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The base variant is offered in FWD configuration. All other pure petrol variants utilize a 2.0-litre engine that generates 254 PS and 390 Nm. All these variants have AWD. The top variant now uses an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV facelift continues with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, generating 156 PS and 220 Nm. However, the 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) has been replaced with a single speed unit. A similar front drive system is also used with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. With these updates, the Jetour T2 PHEV has become more efficient.

With the 26.61 kWh LFP battery, pure electric range is now 108 km, as compared to 100 km earlier. Variants with the larger 45.12 kWh battery pack have a higher pure electric range of 173 km. The previous model used a 43.24 kWh battery pack, offering a pure electric range of 162 km. Combined range of Jetour T2 PHEV is up to 1,400 km (CLTC).

India-Bound JSW Combat Launch Reportedly Delayed

For India, the Jetour T2 is expected to form the basis of JSW Motors’ first own-brand SUV, likely to carry the Combat name. The model has already been spotted testing locally, including in our recent photographs showing a camouflaged prototype parked alongside a Mahindra Thar Roxx. Whether the Indian version will incorporate the latest updates introduced in China remains unconfirmed.

According The Hindu BusinessLine, JSW has pushed the debut from the earlier Diwali timeline to mid-December 2026. The reason for the delay was not immediately clear. The SUV is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The launch will mark the start of JSW Motors’ independent passenger-vehicle business, separate from JSW MG Motor India. The report adds that JSW plans to introduce 15 new-energy vehicles over four years in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh range.

These will be spanning hybrids and fully electric models, with manufacturing at its Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra to be scaled up to 3.5 lakh units per annum. JSW aims to establish around 120 dealer partners and 150 customer touchpoints by April 2027, complemented by experience centres and an online vehicle-buying platform.
