Kia has officially launched new Sorento in India, marking the arrival of its premium three-row SUV with diesel and strong-hybrid powertrain options. Sorento will be available in 6- and 7-seat configurations, while the top-spec version also gets AWD with terrain modes. Prices start from Rs 27.99 lakh.

Kia Sorento has been launched at an introductory starting price of Rs 27.99 lakh, with the range extending up to Rs 40.39 lakh, ex-showroom. Diesel variants are priced from Rs 27.99 lakh to Rs 38.89 lakh, while the 1.6-litre strong hybrid range starts at Rs 29.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 40.39 lakh. Both 6- and 7-seat configurations are available, depending on the variant. Kia is also offering Convenience, ADAS and Black Line styling packs, while higher HTX variants come with AWD as standard.

New Kia Sorento measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,785 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,815 mm. The SUV gets Kia’s familiar Tiger Nose grille, vertically arranged projector headlamps, progressive turn indicators, 19-inch alloy wheels, bridge-type roof rails, a roof spoiler with hidden rear wiper and vertically oriented LED tail lamps.

Kia Sorento Diesel And Hybrid

Two powertrain options have been confirmed for India. Diesel version uses a 2,151cc engine producing 193 PS and 442 Nm. Sorento HEV gets a 1,598cc petrol engine rated at 180 PS, paired with a 65 PS electric motor. Kia’s specifications list 265 Nm of torque for the hybrid. Sorento will be offered across HTE, HTK and HTX trims. HTE is a 7-seater, while HTK and HTX will be available in 6- and 7-seat configurations. HTX comes with AWD as standard.

Feature-Loaded Cabin

Even HTE gets a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 4-inch instrument display, 10-way powered driver’s seat, six speakers, 18-inch alloy wheels, eight parking sensors, rear-view monitor and dual-tone leatherette upholstery. A Convenience Pack adds panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, front ventilated seats and an 8-way powered passenger seat.

HTK upgrades to twin 12.3-inch displays, 12-speaker Bose audio, 19-inch alloys, 12 parking sensors, surround-view monitor, blind-view monitor, Kia Connect 2.0, OTA updates and front ventilated seats. Other equipment includes four-cube projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.

Top-spec HTX gets a more extensive equipment list with front relaxation seats, Ergo Motion driver’s seat with IMS, Digital Key 2.0, Gen AI assistant and ventilated second-row seats. It also gets a windshield head-up display, digital IRVM, Remote Smart Parking Assist and front and rear dashcams.

Up To 10 Airbags, Level 2+ ADAS

Safety is another major focus. HTE gets a 26-feature standard safety package with seven airbags. HTK can be equipped with an ADAS package offering a 21-feature suite. Top-spec HTX takes this to a 28-feature safety package with 10 airbags, while its optional ADAS package expands the driver-assistance suite to 30 features. Other highlighted safety technologies include five radars, multi-collision braking, surround-view and blind-view monitors and ISOFIX mounting points for the second and third rows.

Sorento also offers features such as navigation-based cruise control, shift-by-wire rotary gear selector, 4-way powered Boss Mode, smart powered tailgate, 220V inverter and remote second-row seat folding. With Sorento, Kia is expanding into a more premium SUV category in India with a combination of diesel, strong-hybrid and AWD options.
