Indian Army Executes Surprise ‘Operation Mahadev’ Against Terrorists
by Article by Satya B · Gulte.comJust days before the start of the Amarnath Yatra 2025, a major encounter took place in Srinagar between Indian security forces and terrorists. The army launched a special mission called ‘Operation Mahadev’ to eliminate the terrorists.
The gunfight began on Monday in the Lidvas area of Harwan, on the outskirts of Srinagar. According to army sources, they received intel that three terrorists were hiding in the forest area near Mahadev hills, close to Mulnar.
As security forces closed in, the terrorists opened fire, which led to a fierce exchange. In response, the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, launched a joint operation and surrounded the area. So far, two terrorists have been killed, and the search for others is still ongoing.
Senior officers from the army and police have reached the encounter site to monitor the operation closely. Initial reports suggest that the terrorists might be linked to the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The area remains sealed, and a detailed combing operation is underway to ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents. The army confirmed that the operation is still active and more updates will follow soon.
