Alex Jones broke off to announce some news regarding Sir Elton John on The One Show on Friday's show (January 10). Alex and co-presenter Clara Amfo said Sir Elton's 2017 album Diamonds - spanning his greatest hits from 1970 to 2016 - had "topped the charts a few hours ago".

Alex then played a video of Sir Elton, speaking from his home. "Hi Alex, hi Clara and everyone on The One Show. I am so thrilled and excited that Diamonds has finally got to number one in the UK chart," said the star.

He went on to express his joy: "It has been eight years, so it has been an amazing start to the year, and I could not be happier," as reported by Wales Online. "Thank you, everyone," he concluded with gratitude.

Clara warmly replied, "Aw, congratulations," and added, "Our forever fave, Elton John," reports the Mirror.

But there was more in store from Alex. She later welcomed child actor Lenny Rush to the show to share some news on the BAFTAs. The young actor disclosed the identity of the luminary set to receive BAFTA's most prestigious honour this year.

"It is the greatest honour BAFTA can give to the greatest people," he said. "This year, the winner is Warwick Davis."

Following this revelation, Warwick Davis himself made an appearance in the studio to talk about the importance of the distinguished award.

When questioned by Clara if the award was one of the "biggest" moments of his career, he responded: "Absolutely. I have done a lot of amazing things in my career, but this has got to top them all, it is amazing. I am really honoured."

Prior to the show's broadcast, The One Show's social media platforms hinted at an "exclusive announcement". On X, they posted: "Get ready for an exclusive announcement on tonight's #TheOneShow! We'll be revealing the recipient of the prestigious @BAFTA Fellowship award for this year - and they'll be joining us on the sofa."
