Nwaneri, Saka and Martinelli - Arteta provides Arsenal fitness update ahead of Nottingham Forest

by · NottinghamshireLive

Mikel Arteta delivered a team news update ahead of Arsenal's challenging encounter with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The Gunners' spirits have dipped following a recent defeat to West Ham, and Liverpool's victory over Manchester City did little to lift the mood.

Concerns were raised for Ethan Nwaneri's fitness after he was forced off in the latter stages of the match against the Hammers, but Arteta has since clarified the situation.

Speaking to journalists, Arteta explained: "Ethan, he was just cramping. His load has been very different in recent weeks."

The Arsenal boss also touched upon the anticipated return of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, expressing cautious optimism about their recovery post-international break. "Bukayo and Gabby are progressing well but a bit far to come back."

Forest are currently one place and six points behind the second-placed Gunners but have lost three of their last four games.
