Boy, 16, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after St Ann's stabbing
by Laycie Beck · NottinghamshireLiveA 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in St Ann's. Officers were called to St Ann's Way at around 11pm on Sunday, November 24, after receiving reports of an altercation between two men.
The victim, aged in his thirties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but these are not currently believed to be life-threatening. His condition is understood to be stable.
A police cordon was in place on Monday, November 25, around Framework's Mechanics House on Alfred Street North. The charity has previously confirmed that no resident at Framework was involved in the attack, and the person who arrived at the site was already injured.
A team of detectives working on the investigation have now arrested a teenager. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Tuesday, November 26.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We know this incident has caused concern among residents so I’m pleased we can share this important update. We have been analysing CCTV footage, carrying out house-to-house inquiries and using all the other investigative tools at our disposal.
“I would like to stress that we believe this was an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public. A man remains in hospital being treated for some serious and unpleasant injuries."
She continued: "I would continue to urge anyone with information to please come forward and share it with officers. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any relevant CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, should get in touch with police.”
Inspector Steve Dalby, neighbourhood policing inspector for St Ann’s, said: “Patrols have been increased following this incident and I’d urge anyone with concerns to speak to an officer. My team will also be working closely with local councillors, community leaders and other partners as we understand the impact this has had on people who live and work in this neighbourhood.”
