BBC Antiques Road Trip expert warns 'it's kicking off' as guests square up to each other
by Helen Kelly, Jennie Buzaglo · NottinghamshireLiveAntiques Road Trip expert Roo Irvine alerted her colleague Natasha Raskin Sharp to a brewing rivalry between their guests during the celebrity edition of the BBC show. The guests, Harry Clark and Paul Gorton, known for their appearances on BBC's The Traitors, embarked on a treasure hunt through the Scottish highlands.
Paul made his intentions clear, telling his friend: "You won The Traitors. I need to win this."
Roo and Natasha accompanied the pair to Dingwall, where they assisted in their search for antiques. In one shop, Roo spotted a mourning brooch featuring human hair. Meanwhile, Paul found a 9 carat gold watch, which Roo described as "beautiful". They managed to secure both items for £240 from the shop owner.
Elsewhere in the store, Natasha engaged Harry in conversation about his army days, leading them to a pair of First World War binoculars, reports the Express.
The binoculars, valued at £80, received Natasha's approval. She commented: "Carl Zeiss is a great maker of anything optical. They are German, high quality military field binoculars."
Along with three Irish spoons worth £60 each, Natasha and Harry were delighted to pay £140 for their finds. The episode continued with Roo and Paul heading to Hill of Fearne, while Natasha and Harry journeyed to Cromarty.
Paul found a photo of Ardross Castle, where The Traitors was filmed, from 1902. Roo suggested he should sign it before selling it at auction, cheekily adding: "Harry would hate this." They also snapped up a piece of Titanic memorabilia for £45.
Over with Natasha and Harry, they discovered a 19th-century mug. Natasha identified it as "creamware and lustrous". Harry attempted to charm the shopkeeper into reducing the £69 asking price by offering a date, but settled on paying £55.
When the teams reconvened, Harry teased Paul by picking up his watch, jesting: "You'll need this to sell because your other stuff, I'm not feeling your other stuff." Unperturbed, Paul and Roo were quietly confident, with Roo whispering: "We're going to win."
The atmosphere was jocular as Harry playfully squared up to Paul, joking: "Hold me back," while Roo couldn't contain her amusement, exclaiming: "Oh my goodness," followed by Tash commenting, "Tash, it's kicking off."
Despite the mock tension, Harry admitted: "I can't look at you without smiling."
Ultimately, it was Paul and Roo who had the last laugh, defeating Harry and Natasha with a smaller loss of £81.20 against their opponents' £105.00.
