The Traitors' Mollie Pearce shares how stoma bag affects Dancing On Ice routines

Mollie Pearce, star of The Traitors, is set to trade Claudia Winkleman's Scottish castle for the ice rink as she joins the 2025 series of Dancing On Ice. Mollie gained popularity during the second season of The Traitors, where she narrowly lost to her best friend and fellow contestant, Harry Clark.

Living with a stoma since she was 18, which she affectionately refers to as 'Sid', Mollie has now spoken about its impact on her ice-skating journey. "It's not been much of an issue for us. I think there's some lifts we've talked about and Colin always checks it is okay, but as long as my bag isn't too full then it's not a problem and it's not stopped us doing anything," Mollie said.

"We forget about it a lot of the time. I think it's amazing for other people to see someone on TV with a stoma bag," she continued. Last year, viewers saw DJ Adele Roberts compete on the show, becoming the first contestant to do so with a stoma bag following her colostomy surgery after a cancer diagnosis in 2021.

"I know how much I loved to see Adele on the show so it's really nice," Mollie expressed. However, Mollie's journey hasn't been smooth sailing. She suffered an injury just two weeks into learning the basics of skating, resulting in a fractured left wrist, reports the Mirror.

Consequently, her initial four weeks of training with professional dance partner Colin Grafton were spent off the ice. Mollie has revealed that both she and Colin were nervous about her returning to the ice. "I think for me it took me a minute and we were both quite anxious when I got back on," she confessed.

"Obviously, we didn't want another fall, we didn't wanna make anything worse, and I think Colin wanted to like wrap me in bubble wrap," she added. Overcoming the fear of falling again, especially during solo skating, was a challenge but Mollie feels they have turned a corner in the last two weeks.

"I think it lighted a fire between both of us too," Colin chimed in. "We were so eager to get back on for so long, we were like, all right, when we got back, we just really worked super hard."

The new series begins on Sunday, January 12, airing weekly on ITV1 and available for streaming on ITVX. Hosts from previous seasons, Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern - who officially took over co-hosting duties last year - will be back on presenting duties.
