Trump says Iran nuclear deal clearly blocks Tehran from getting weapons

US President Donald Trump has defended his proposed agreement with Iran, insisting the draft deal contains detailed provisions preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump disputed a CNN report that claimed the agreement did not address Iran’s nuclear programme.

“Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iran Nuclear Deal doesn’t talk about Nuclear, when actually it states, very clearly, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote.

The US president said nuclear issues formed a major part of the proposed agreement.

“It then goes on, in very strong and lengthy detail, to discuss various other aspects of Nuclear. In fact, that’s what most of the agreement is about,” he added.

Trump did not release further details about the draft deal or specify which parts of the agreement covered Iran’s nuclear activities.

The comments come as negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing international concern over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump also used the social media post to criticise CNN directly, questioning whether the broadcaster would recover under its new ownership.
