The tense exchange aired on NBC on June 7, 2026, grew combative over election integrity when Welker explained that the ballot-counting process is standard in places like California.

Trump insisted it indicated cheating but failed to provide proof, leading Welker to challenge him, stating, "But sir, that's not evidence.

The interview also touched on other controversial topics, including Trump's proposed $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" for individuals he claimed were unfairly targeted by the justice system and his threats of military action against Iran if a diplomatic solution fails.
