Trump responds as lawsuit threat looms over White House press access

President Donald Trump has responded to a recent lawsuit filed by three major media outlets, including CNN, MS NOW and Politico over banning their access to White House.

In Truth Social Post, Trump defended the administration’s decision to ban these outlets over fake news concerns aimed at protecting national security of the country instead of assaulting the press freedom.

“The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America..”

Speaking about the anathema of fake news, the posts read, “It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped.”

Trump’s remarks come in response to a joint statement issued by these media outlets in which they decided to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration.

“This morning, we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today to protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes.”

“Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.”

The legal battle comes after the Trump administration banned these outlets from accessing their workspaces, equipment and camera locations inside the White House.

Legal experts also considered the restrictions flatly unconstitutional that go against the First Amendment of the US that protects free speech and press freedom.

The emergency request sent by these media outlets will be reviewed by a federal judge in the D.C. District Court this week.
