Trump rejects Iran proposal in latest US-Iran negotiations: 'Totally unacceptable'

US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal, calling it “totally unacceptable” as negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme continue.

In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said: “I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”

According to Iranian state news agency IRNA, Tehran delivered its latest proposal through Pakistani mediators on Sunday morning.

The report did not provide details about the terms under discussion.

The latest exchange comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump has repeatedly taken a hard stance against Iran developing nuclear weapons.

US ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said Washington had drawn a clear line in its latest offer.

Speaking to Fox News Sunday, Waltz said: “President (Donald) Trump has been clear they will never have a nuclear weapon and they cannot hold the world’s economies hostage.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also struck a defiant tone during the talks. In a post on X, he wrote: “We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat.”
