Trump on Iran: 'They will be hit hard tonight'

President Trump announced an attack on Iran again tonight, stating the U.S. military would launch a strike as well as threaten to take over the Persian country's Kharg Island and other energy infrastructure.

Taking to Truth Social, the president claimed Iran's military assets have been in ruins due to his bombing attacks.

Now, he penned that the country will again be attacked tonight.

"The United States will be hitting Iran (whose navy, air force, radar, anti-aircraft, and all other forms of defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!) VERY HARD TONIGHT."

Trump ramped up his rhetoric, stating the U.S. will seize Kharg Island — an oil-rich island belonging to Iran — as well as other key energy facilities of the country.

"At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points and assuming total control of their oil and gas markets."

Following the threats, the U.S. president drew a parallel between Iran and how his country got involved in the energy sector of Venezuela.

"Much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.

Trump's latest tweet highlights a significant escalation in already-tense relations between Washington and Tehran.

In the last few days, the exchange of missiles between Iran and the United States has put the fragile ceasefire on the verge of continuing hostilities.
