Inside Trump and Netanyahu’s heated, expletive-ridden call over Israel’s plans for Lebanon

US President Donald Trump reportedly held a tense phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, urging him to scale back planned military operations in Lebanon.

According to Axios, citing two sources familiar with the call, Trump strongly opposed the proposed offensive, which he feared could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Iran.

The sources told Axios, the US president became increasingly frustrated during the discussion and used expletives to express his disapproval.

During the call, Trump reportedly reminded Netanyahu of his past support for Israel and warned that further military action in Lebanon could deepen Israel's international isolation.

Following the call, Trump struck a more positive tone publicly. In a post on Truth Social, he described the discussion as a “productive” call and claimed that Israel and Hezbollah would stop attacking one another.

He also said Israeli forces would not advance on Beirut. Meanwhile, Netanyahu in a statement, said the military would continue operations in southern Lebanon “as planned.”

The reported disagreement comes as the US and Iran talks are reportedly back on track.
