Trump predicts Keir Starmer's exit as pressure mounts on Labour leader

As pressure mounts on U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign, U.S. President Donald Trump seemingly added his fair share to the mix.

The American leader said his British counterpart would resign while criticizing the Labour leader's policies on immigration and energy.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Kier Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects – IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!). I wish him well! President DJT."

The remarks follow pressure within the Labour government rising on Starmer to step down, and a recent report said he would resign from the prime ministership on Monday.

This comes against a backdrop of Starmer and his allies pushing back against the reports of stepping down and insisting they would stand against any leadership challenge.

But a turning point came when Andy Burnham won the Makerfield by-election.

This has garnered support for the Greater Manchester mayor to lead the party.

Amid this, Peter Kyle, the business secretary, told Sky News on Sunday that Starmer was "spending the weekend making time to reflect on the political realities he faces".
