Trump erupts at Jimmy Kimmel, calls for action over Melania 'expectant widow' jab

Donald Trump has called out Jimmy Kimmel hours after his wife, Melania, blasted the late-night host for his remarks.

Taking to Truth Social, the U.S. president, in his usual style, exploded at the ABC host, demanding heads will roll.

"Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible television ratings, made a statement on his show that is really shocking," Trump begins his furious tweet.

Kimmel, in the president's view, crossed a dangerous line.

"He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be."

However, what seems to have led Trump to go nuclear on Kimmel was the latter's jab at the First Lady.

"He then stated, 'Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.'"

Trump, it appears, has tied this remark to a shocking shooting scare that happened a day later at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where he was present with his wife, Melania.

“A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason."

In the end, Trump calls for the firing of Kimmel over what he claims to have delivered hate speech.

"I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said, but this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

This is not the first time Trump and Kimmel have had a spat. The duo has been trading barbs for years.

It is worth noting that months ago, Kimmel was off the air after his remarks about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
