The Hyundai Creta led the SUV sales rankings in October 2024, surpassing the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Fronx, Tata Punch and Mahindra Scorpio

The Hyundai Creta claimed the top position in SUV sales for October 2024, with an impressive 17,497 units sold, rising from 13,077 units in October 2023 – a 34% year-on-year growth in the domestic market. Following closely, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza held the second spot, with 16,565 units sold, reflecting a modest 3% increase from the 16,050 units sold in the same month last year.

The Mahindra Scorpio range recorded a total of 15,677 units in October 2024, marking a 15% year-on-year increase from the 13,578 units sold in the same month last year. Despite this growth, the Scorpio series dropped to fifth place in the rankings, edged out by the Tata Punch micro SUV, which claimed the fourth position.

Maruti’s compact SUV coupe, the Fronx, maintained its robust performance in October 2024, continuing its strong sales trajectory since its launch. The Fronx recorded 16,419 units, marking a notable 45% year-on-year increase from the 11,357 units sold in October 2023, making it the third best-selling SUV in India for the month.

The Tata Punch registered 15,740 units in October 2024, showing a modest 3% growth from the 15,317 units sold in the same month last year. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara secured the sixth and seventh spots, respectively. The Nexon saw a 13% year-on-year decline, with sales dipping to 14,759 units from 16,887 units.

In contrast, the Grand Vitara achieved a significant 30% increase, reaching 14,083 units compared to 10,834 units in October 2023. The Hyundai Venue finished in the ninth position with 10,901 unit sales last month as against 11,581 units with a YoY de-growth of 6%.

The Mahindra XUV700 was the ninth most sold SUV in India last month as 10,435 units were registered against 9,297 units during the same period in 2023 with a YoY volume growth of 12 per cent. The Kia Sonet rounded out the top ten with 9,699 units as against 6,493 units in October 2023 with a massive YoY surge of 49%.
