In October 2024, Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga took the lead in sales, reaching 18,785 units, up from 14,209 units in October 2023, marking a 32% year-on-year growth. The Swift compact hatchback followed in second place with 17,539 units sold, a decline from the 20,598 units recorded last year.
This resulted in a 15% year-on-year decrease for the Swift. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta secured the third spot among passenger vehicles and emerged as the best-selling SUV in India last month as well. The midsize SUV achieved 17,497 unit sales, up from 13,077 units in October 2023, reflecting a 34% year-on-year growth in the domestic market.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza secured the fourth spot with 16,565 units sold, marking a modest 3% increase from the 16,050 units recorded in October 2023. The top four places remained unchanged compared to September. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Scorpio series totalled 15,677 units. This represented a year-on-year growth of 15% compared to the 13,578 units sold in October last year. However, despite this growth, the Scorpio series slipped to eighth place in the rankings, dropping three spots from the previous month’s position.

In the latter half of the sales rankings, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno secured the sixth spot, selling 16,082 units – a slight year-on-year decline of 3% from the 16,594 units sold in October 2023. The Fronx, Maruti’s compact SUV coupe, has consistently performed well since its market debut, and October continued this trend with strong sales volumes.
The Fronx achieved impressive growth, recording 16,419 units in October 2024, up from 11,357 units the previous year – a 45% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, the Tata Punch climbed to seventh place with 15,740 units sold, reflecting a 3% growth over the 15,317 units sold in October 2023.

The Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara moved back into the top ten as the former posted 14,759 unit sales as against 16,887 units with a YoY decline of 13% while the latter recorded 30% YoY growth as 14,083 units were registered against 10,834 units.
