After a long hiatus, the ICC Champions Trophy schedule was released on December 24, and the tournament is set to kick off on February 19 and run until March 9. It will be a total of eight teams competing in 15 matches across Pakistan and Dubai. Although Pakistan is the host, India will play all their matches in Dubai, and if they manage to pass the league stage, the semi-final will also be held at the same venue. Now, speaking specifically about Pakistan’s venues for the Champions Trophy, three venues are set to host the tournament, Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Take a look at all the details about these stadiums and see in detail how many matches they are going to host in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Pakistan’s stadiums for Champions Trophy 2025
Gaddafi Stadium
The iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is set to host some of the crucial Champions Trophy league games and also the final, unless India qualifies. If that happens, the final will be held in Dubai. Built in 1959, it is one of the oldest stadiums, but over the years, it has been revamped and now boasts impressive facilities such as spacious dressing rooms, a world-class media centre, and hospitality areas, making this venue even more special.
In the Champions Trophy 2025, this iconic venue will host three group matches, Australia vs England (February 22), England vs Afghanistan (February 26), and Australia vs Afghanistan (February 28). With an approximate seating capacity of 27,000, we can expect it to expand as revamping is currently underway, which could increase its seating capacity.
National Stadium
Once again, one of the oldest stadiums in Pakistan, with experience hosting several international matches in the past, including the 1996 quarterfinal match, National Stadium in Karachi will be used for Champions Trophy games this time. Pakistan will play against New Zealand on February 19, Afghanistan will face South Africa on February 21, and then South Africa will clash against England on March 1.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
Latest among the names mentioned above, this venue is known for its charged-up crowd, always providing fast pitches and impressive drainage facilities. Built in 1992, the seating capacity is around 17,000, but it is expected to expand after the revamping. The venue will host Bangladesh vs New Zealand on February 24, Australia vs South Africa on February 25, and Pakistan vs Bangladesh on February 27.
