The tournament has been finally ended for Pakistan, who have ended up at the bottom of the Champions Trophy points table with zero wins in three matches. The last league game, against Bangladesh, was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Rawalpindi, making Pakistan finish with a wooden spoon.

The crowd in Pakistan was hyped for hosting an ICC event after a massive wait of 29 years. A bucket load of money was splashed on the reconstruction of the three Champions Trophy centers: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The campaign started on a worst possible fashion for Pakistan. who lost Fakhar Zaman and the match against New Zealand. Then, it was must-win clash for them against arch-nemesis India. It was again a lop-sided game, with Virat Kohli hammering a century to send Pakistan in doomland.

Pakistan had nothing but pride to play for in their last league match against Bangladesh. But the rain gods had other plans. The rain was forecasted for the entire match and it duly turned out to be true. We couldn’t have a toss as well, with the match officials abandoning the PAK vs BAN game earlier than many expected.
