Catch who won IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Stadium on sunday night.

Two matches were played on Sunday (APril 26) in IPL 2026, but this article focuses only on the night game in Lucknow, where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) edged past Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a dramatic Super Over finish.

It was a strange game, as if two flawed teams were doing their best not to win the game. KKR were 93/7 at one stage and looked set for a below-par total. Mohsin Khan ran through them with a five-wicket haul. But one innings changed everything. Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 83 off 51 balls lifted KKR to 155/7, a total that did not look possible at one point.

LSG, in reply, took the slow route. They were steady but never in control of the required run rate. That meant too much was left for the end. Despite a late fight from the lower order, the match went into a Super Over, where Sunil Narine did his magic.

Rinku Singh turns a collapse into a contest

KKR’s innings had no flow for most parts. They lost wickets early and kept losing them. At 31/4 and later 93/7, the innings was going nowhere. Mohsin Khan was the main reason, picking 5/23 and breaking the backbone of the batting.

Rinku Singh was the only one who held his ground. He did not start fast. He was 43 off 40 at one stage. But once he got support and overs at the death, he switched gears quickly. The last two overs changed the innings. Rinku hit big, including four sixes in the final over, and suddenly KKR had 155. From a losing position, they had something to defend. Rishabh Pant’s ploy of giving the last over to spinner Digvesh Rathi flopped big time.

LSG leave it too late; in the end forces Super Over

LSG should’ve chased that down easily, considering there were no demons in the pitch. However, LSG’s chase never really took off. Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram added 57 runs but took 55 balls, striking at 103. It simply allowed KKR to be in the game at all times. Boundaries were rare, and the required rate kept climbing.

At one stage, LSG needed 64 off the last five overs. That is where the game should have ended. Instead, the lower order pulled things back. Ayush Badoni, Himmat Singh and others went after the bowlers and dragged the game deep.

The final over summed up the match. There were no-balls, a boundary, and confusion. LSG needed seven off the last ball, and Mohammed Shami managed to hit a six to tie the scores. But the momentum did not carry into the Super Over.

Super Over: Game finished in seconds

After all the chaos that happened in the 40 overs, the Super Over saw just four balls of the total 12 available. Sunil Narine bowled the Super Over and picked two wickets, conceding just one run in three balls. Pooran fell first ball, Markram followed, and the over was done almost immediately. KKR needed just two runs. Rinku Singh finished it in one ball with a boundary, sealing the win off Prince Yadav.
