by · Inside Sport India

Catch the match prediction, predicted XIs and more for the contest between India and Pakistan in ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.

And it all begins here for Team India. Harmanpreet Kaur‘s team takes on arch-rivals Pakistan in Birmingham in a few minutes from now, and it should be a cracker of a contest. India are placed in a tough group A, and this happens to be one of the easiest matches they will get during the course of the tournament. Later, they go on to face the likes of South Africa and Australia, and this match, the aim should be to get a real big win.

But then, as is the nature of the sport, one cannot rule out the possibility of an upset. On paper, yes, India are the stronger team, but PAK is coming on the back of some decent performances vs Zimbabwe and SA, albeit in the ODI format. It would be worth watching, if they can translate into some kind of form in the T20I format.

What to expect from India vs Pakistan, T20 World Cup 2026 match?

India need to treat this match, as a comeback one. They have had back-to-back series losses against SA and ENG, and confidence needs to be built here with this encounter. Without any doubt, it should be a lop-sided one, but the weak pace attack really needs to find its footing early into the tournament. Spearhead of the attack, Renuka Thakur has been bad, by her own lofty standards, this year, picking only 6 wickets in 7. One good match will change everything.

As for Kranti, she has had similar returns, but with a worse economy of 9. Only Arundhati Reddy has been a little decent with 11 wickets in 10. So, a massive opportunity against a weak batting attack Pakistan.

On the other hand, Sidra Amin is the best Pakistani batter, and in form too. But here T20 returns are scanty. In 68 matches, she has an average of 17, and an SR of 87 only. And she happens to be the best. Whatever challenge in batting comes from PAK, will be from her bat. Rest, they can’t be expecting much, even from the ball.

Birmingham pitch report for IND vs PAK

The pitch will some good bounce, which means, the ball will come on to the bat rather well. Team batting first should be aiming to get at least 170 on the board. Apart from some initial help to the pacers, don’t expect much to happen. Spinners might just come into play in the middle-overs.
