What a dramatic finish it was to the LSG vs MI IPL 2025 game! With the chase of 204 going far after every ball, Mumbai Indians made a desperate decision to retire out Tilak Varma just before the last over. The result? MI fell short by 12 runs. Although Tilak wasn’t batting fluently, he still had a better shot compared to the likes of Mitchell Santner and MI debutant Raj Bawa. Even before the match, MI lost Rohit Sharma, who has picked up an injury. And so has Ruturaj Gaikwad, who may or may not feature in the CSK vs DC clash. Without him, MS Dhoni could return as skipper. Elsewhere, the delay for the return of Jasprit Bumrah could continue furthermore.

MS Dhoni to captain CSK, Gaikwad injured

MS Dhoni may captain Chennai Super Kings (CSK) again if Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow injury doesn’t improve. Gaikwad was hit by Tushar Deshpande during CSK’s loss to Rajasthan Royals and has been unable to train. CSK’s batting coach, Michael Hussey, hopes Gaikwad will be fit for their next match against Delhi Capitals. If not, Dhoni might lead the team, which would excite the Chepauk crowd. Gaikwad’s absence would weaken CSK’s batting lineup, potentially leading to a reshuffled XI and tricky selection decisions. Devon Conway’s return to the lineup is possible if Gaikwad misses the match. Read more here.

Rohit Sharma is injured

Raj Angad Bawa, a pace-bowling all-rounder, made his debut for MI in Rohit’s place. Read more here.

Jasprit Bumrah to miss more IPL matches

Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss more IPL 2025 matches due to a back injury sustained in January. He’s been cautious about his return, prioritizing fitness over playing for the Mumbai Indians, as another injury could keep him sidelined for 3-6 months. Bumrah’s focus is on India’s upcoming Test series against England, where he might be named captain if Rohit Sharma steps down. The BCCI is assessing his fitness, but Bumrah won’t rush back, given the importance of the England series and the X-factor he possesses. Read more here.
